Special Information

Do I need to register?
No. But we would appreciate an email to let us know if you plan to attend, how many and which days, and number in your party. Please email: webmaster@dharmamemphis.com. When emailing please include your name, email address, which days you plan to attend, number in party, and where you are originating from, and a phone number is optional. Thank You!

Will there be room for everyone who wants to come?
We are receiving a lot of interest, however we are not requiring registration, and therefore do not have an accurate count of those attending. We will make every effort to make everyone comfortable, and we believe that there should be adequate space and we will make adjustments to talks and activities.

What should I bring?
The climate is changeable, it can be quite warm during the daytime and cool at night, so bring a variety of loose, comfortable, casual, layered clothing. Bring outdoor walking shoes as well as slip-on shoes. You may wish to bring a hat and sunscreen and/or rain gear for outdoor walking. A flashlight is a good idea. In respect of some people's allergies and sensitivities, please leave behind any scented cosmetics (including “natural” scents). You may also want to bring a shawl.

What do I do if I have special needs?
If you could email with any special need that you may have, we will make every effort to make appropriate accommodations, however you may also notify anyone at Magnolia Village upon your arrival.

Handicapped accommodations?
If you need assistance, there will be people on site that give you what ever aid that is possible. Also, if you simply need valet parking due to any difficulty walking please let us know, and we will be glad to help in any way possible.

Restroom Facilities
There have been some questions about bathroom facilities. There are men and ladies restrooms at the meditation hall with multiple stalls and showers. There will not be any portable johns onsite.

Driving Directions?
There are driving directions listed below if you are traveling Interstate I-55.   ** see picture of signs below

Can  bring any my pet?
It is requested that you  please do not bring any pets to Magnolia Village for this time.

Will there be talks in English and Vietnamese?
There will some talks in both English and Vietnamese, and we are hoping to provide headphone stations where you can plug in your own headphones to hear translations. The type of headphones required would be walkman-type headphones with 1/8" jack.

Do I need to bring my own meditation cushion?
There are some meditations cushions provided, but there are not enough for everyone. So, if you have your own cushion, please bring it.

After arrival how can I contact someone if I need further help?
These are cellular phones you can call, pleae check back later for additional numbers:
Binh: 662-832-1818
Barrett: 901-240-1012

What is the suggested dana?
Many of you have inquired asked about costs. There are no fees for this special event. This tradition of making offerings to those who make these retreats possible is called dana, which is the Pali word for generosity. There will be an opportunity to offer dana during your visit, and it really up to you to decide how much you would like to give. How much you give depends on the value of the teachings, your desire to support the teachers, and those that work to make it all possible, and of course, how much you can afford. There will be a box with a sign marked dana in the meditation hall for Magnolia Village.
